MengPaw.shell · Self-Bootstrapping Android Agent Framework
Beat Fragmentation
with Fragments
MengPaw.shell is the MengPaw APP: call most of Android's features straight from the command line, bridge Termux to deploy Ubuntu and configure Python — so an Agent can bootstrap and grow on your own device. Android 8.0 and up, a 15.0 MB installer, no root, no account.

Is a Complete Dev Environment
Call system capabilities from the command line, bridge a full environment through Termux — everything on Android becomes a capability of your Agent.
Command-Line System Control
Apps, files, notifications, network… most of Android's features can be invoked with a single command.
TermuxTermux Bridge
Bridge Termux to deploy Ubuntu, configure Python and more — turning your mobile device into a development machine.
MemoryMemory Twin
You only need one assistant — and it's everywhere.
CoordinationInfantry–Tank Coordination Mode
Armored columns press from the front while infantry units weave through — a main brain decides, hands and feet move in sync, and combat power multiplies.
You Say It in Plain Words
It Figures Out the Rest
Not a chat toy — it actually touches your device. Everything below ships in the box.
No More Checking the Weather
Scheduled tasks run on time and land in your notification bar — weather, schedule, to-dos, device status, ready when you wake.
Clean Up Your Gallery in One Sentence
Batch rename and archive by date, place or content, and sweep out duplicates — full file access applies only after you grant it.
Let the Agent Browse for You
Pair it with MengPaw.Browser: full-page screenshots and coordinate clicks in one shot — no scrolling, no stitching.
Turn Your Mobile Device into a Dev Machine
Bridge Termux to deploy Ubuntu and configure Python — run scripts, install dependencies and process data inside Linux.
One Order, Every Device
Nodes are discovered on your LAN: the mobile commands, the desktop executes, the tablet verifies — one lead, a whole formation.
It Tidies Its Memory at Night
Dream mode reviews the day while you sleep and keeps only the long-term conclusions — it understands you better over time, not worse.

Before You Install
Prerequisites, cost and permissions — all of it, up front.
- SystemAndroid 8.0 or later, a 15.0 MB installer, no root required.
- You provideAn LLM API key. The app itself is free; model usage is billed by your provider directly — we never touch it or take a cut.
- OptionalFor a Linux environment, install Termux (from F-Droid), enable external app invocation, then deploy Ubuntu — the app works fine without this step.
- PermissionsFull file access, SMS, contacts, call log, camera, microphone, location, notifications, overlay, install apps — requested on demand, each can be denied, and features degrade rather than crash.
- BackgroundA persistent notification keeps scheduled tasks alive; some OEM builds need a battery-optimisation whitelist.
- It won'tStart itself. Install, configure, then you drive — the agent never runs on its own.
No Account
and No Server of Ours
We don't own a single server that receives your data. That's architecture, not a promise.
- No sign-upNo login, no phone number — install and go.
- Stays on deviceConversations, memory and file indexes live in the app's private directory.
- Keys encryptedAPI keys are sealed by the Android Keystore; if device encryption is unavailable it degrades to memory — never plaintext on disk.
- Peer to peerDevices sync over an encrypted LAN channel; data never leaves your local network.
- Backup offApp backup is disabled by default, so system backups can't carry your data away.
Risky Moves
Ask You First
Every command passes a security gate that cannot be switched off.
- Three tiersReads and notifications pass by default; deletes and config changes stay denied until you raise that agent's trust level.
- High riskWipes, uninstalls, root and camera ask every single time — thirty seconds of silence means no.
- No free reinWhen nobody is watching, high-risk commands are refused outright.
- Source labellingContent from web pages and plugins is never treated as your instruction — prompt injection is filtered out.
- Anomaly alertsIf a third-party model endpoint starts behaving oddly, you are warned immediately.
- Redacted logsKeys and tokens never reach the log.
Don't Reinvent the Wheel
— Build the Hub
In an age of fragmentation, the problem isn't a shortage of tools — it's that tools don't recognize one another. MengPaw isn't another app; it's the hub that connects apps, letting an Agent bootstrap itself atop a single unified operating system.
Open Source
from Day One
MengPaw is open source under a dual-license model, with a full README and documentation hosted on GitHub. Join us — let's piece the fragments back into a whole.
The community edition is AGPL-3.0 and free — personal use, open-source projects and internal company use included. Closed-source distribution, white-labelling and embedding require a commercial licence. External connector plugins ship separately under MIT; PRs are welcome.
How It
Compares
- Termux + CLIHands you a terminal and leaves the commands to you; MengPaw hands you an agent that works it out — the two pair up rather than compete.
- Tasker / AutoJSYou pre-write every rule; MengPaw decides on the spot, no rules needed.
- Other agentsMost stop at conversation; MengPaw writes results back into the system — files, notifications, calendar, camera.
- Cloud assistantsYour memory sits on a vendor's server; MengPaw's memory sits on your device.
Common
Questions
Yes. It does the thinking; your device does the doing. Without a key there is no conversation, but local commands, file management and system calls still work.
The app is free. Model usage is billed by your provider directly — we never touch it or take a cut. Token usage is visible in settings.
Your conversation goes to the LLM provider you configured, otherwise the model cannot answer. Beyond that, nothing flows to us.
No. System capabilities are invoked by in-app commands; root commands are an optional plugin, and everything else works without it.
Yes. Termux only supplies a Linux environment; system, file and notification commands all work without it.
The app checks for updates itself and can download and install them — no manual reinstalls.
